EXPLORE ROXAS CITY: A pinch of 
bountiful seafood can make you feel 
good! 









Roxas City is known for its title “The Seafood Capital of the Philippines”. It is undeniable because of the abundant marine life and a coastal City located in the region of Western Visayas and home of the 5th Philippine President, Manuel A. Roxas.  As a tourism student and proud Capiznon, I wanted to promote my City at its best. Thanks to the knowledge that I have learned in my field about Roxas City because now I can able to share it to all of you.








First in our yummy list of seafood is the “Diwal Shell or Angel Wings it is a famous marine product of the City that is really need to be taste by not only locals but all the tourists who are visiting the City. Many stalls and establishments of seafood grills are offering diwal’s specialties specially in barangay Baybay, a coastal barangay in Roxas City. But if you wanted a fresh Diwal you can buy it in our Market for on (250-300 pesos per kilogram). This cheap but the beat seafood has a season and it is tasty and tender in the month of August. So if you wanted to taste the best Diwal you should visit Roxas City by the month of August.  








Second in the list is the “Alimango or the Famous King Crabs” of Roxas City. We had it in our market, the Teodoro 
Arcenas Trade Center where you can choose what sizes. But if you are lazy enough to cook and go to the market
you can find it in some of the best grills in the city specially in Alma’s Grill, Harry’s seafood, Coco Veranda Bar and 
Grill and even in the food court of the beach.





 



 



Next is the pasayan or hipon. Roxas City offers pasayan with different recipes. But one of the best seller and a
famous dish is “the kinilaw nga hipon or shrimp ”. It is a raw of shrimp tossed in vinegar. It is also famous to be partner
by alcohol. Another famous dish is the tasty “sinigang nga fresh hipon”of Roxas City it is a famous dish in the Philippines 
but sinigang na hipon of Roxas City is really made with a really fresh hipon.





Vacation in Roxas City is not complete without trying our delicacy that will surely make you come back in Roxas City 
once again to buy more.  It is the dried fish and aligue. You can buy the dried fish in our wet market (Teodoro Arcenas Trade 
Center) before going home. But as a local I really recommend to you to buy the aligue. This aligue of Roxas City is really good
to be partner with pasta or rice.








Visit Roxas City to experience the life living in the Seafood Capital of the Philippines. But not only seafoods  but also the

tourist and historical attractions here in Roxas City.
